Vehicle Maintenance Guide | Unique Automotive Preston

Why Regular Servicing Matters

Your vehicle is one of your most important investments, and proper maintenance is the key to protecting it.

Regular servicing is the foundation of vehicle maintenance. During a logbook service, our technicians follow your manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule, ensuring every component receives proper attention at the right intervals. This preventative approach catches potential issues before they become expensive problems and keeps your warranty intact.

Neglecting regular servicing can lead to reduced fuel efficiency, poor performance, and unexpected breakdowns. A well-maintained vehicle also retains better resale value and provides peace of mind when you're on the road. At Unique Automotive, we provide comprehensive logbook servicing tailored to your vehicle's specific needs.

Essential Checks: Tyres, Batteries, and Diagnostics

Your tyres and battery are critical safety components that require regular inspection. Worn tyres reduce grip and increase stopping distance, while a failing battery can leave you stranded. We offer professional tyre assessment, replacement services, and battery testing to ensure both are in optimal condition for Australian road conditions.

Modern vehicles rely on complex electrical and electronic systems. Our vehicle diagnostics service uses advanced equipment to identify issues that aren't immediately obvious, from engine problems to transmission concerns. Early detection through diagnostics can save you thousands in repairs and prevent unexpected failures.

Auto Electrical Repairs and Roadworthy Certificates

Auto electrical systems control everything from your starter motor to your lights and air conditioning. When electrical issues arise, they can be complex and frustrating to diagnose. Our experienced auto electrical specialists handle everything from simple repairs to intricate system troubleshooting, getting your vehicle back to full functionality quickly.

If you're selling a vehicle or need to renew your registration, a roadworthy certificate is essential. Our team conducts thorough inspections to ensure your vehicle meets all safety standards and regulatory requirements. We'll identify any issues and help you understand what needs attention before certification.

Frequently asked questions

Most vehicles need servicing every 6-12 months or according to your manufacturer's logbook schedule. We recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our team to determine the best interval for your specific car. Regular servicing prevents costly repairs and keeps your warranty valid.

A logbook service includes inspections and maintenance tasks recommended by your manufacturer, such as oil and filter changes, fluid top-ups, filter replacements, and component checks. Following the logbook schedule ensures your vehicle receives exactly what it needs at each interval.

Signs of a failing battery include difficulty starting your engine, dimmer lights, and slow windscreen wipers. We recommend professional battery testing annually, especially before winter. If you're experiencing any starting issues, bring your vehicle in for a free battery check.

A roadworthy certificate confirms your vehicle meets safety and environmental standards. In Victoria, you typically need one when selling a vehicle or renewing registration if your car is over a certain age. Our inspection ensures your vehicle meets all legal requirements.
